Dental implants
Single teeth, several teeth, or a full fixed arch. Placed and restored in this office rather than split across two practices.
Implants, extractions and general dentistry from Dr. Jeffrey B. Schoengold, practicing in New York since 1982. We see patients Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, so the appointment does not have to cost you a day of work.
Three full days a week, including the one almost nobody else in Riverdale opens.
Most dental offices are open exactly when you are at work. So the filling waits. The cracked molar waits. The tooth you lost two years ago waits, and while it waits the bone underneath it quietly shrinks.
Opening Sunday was a deliberate decision about who this office is for. Nobody should have to burn a vacation day, arrange cover, or explain an absence to get a tooth looked at.
Call the office. Sunday is a full working day here, not an emergency line, so there is a real chance of being seen rather than told to wait until Monday and take painkillers in the meantime.
Call 914-559-7757Implants are what Dr. Schoengold is known for, but this is the office plenty of Riverdale families use for everything else too.
Single teeth, several teeth, or a full fixed arch. Placed and restored in this office rather than split across two practices.
Pain, swelling, a broken tooth, a crown that came off. Call and we will tell you honestly whether it can wait or should not.
Straightforward and surgical removals, including wisdom teeth, with the site prepared properly if an implant is coming later.
Rebuilding teeth that are cracked, worn or heavily filled, and replacing dentures that have stopped fitting the way they used to.
For patients whose fear of the dentist is the actual obstacle. Say so when you book and the whole visit gets planned around it.
Routine care for the whole family, on days you can actually make. Catching a problem at the small stage is the cheapest dentistry there is.
Losing a tooth changes small things first. You chew on one side. You skip the corn, the apple, the crusty bread. You start covering your mouth in photographs. None of it feels dramatic enough to book an appointment about, so it becomes normal.
An implant is a titanium root placed into the jaw with a crown on top. It is fixed, you clean it like a tooth, and it does not sit on the teeth either side of the gap the way a bridge does.
It is the most common reason people get turned away, and it is not always the end of it. Where the jaw has narrowed, this practice is certified in REX PiezoImplants, a wedge shaped design that can fit a narrow ridge without grafting first. Where the jaw is short rather than narrow, grafting or a sinus lift is the route instead.
Which of those applies to you is a question a 3D scan answers, not a phone call. Bring any scan or quote you already have.

He has been practicing dentistry in New York since 1982 and placing implants since 1996. Over that time the practice has grown into two offices, one in Westchester and this one in Riverdale, with the same dentist working across both.
What patients tend to mention afterwards is not the technology. It is that things get explained before they happen, in ordinary language, and that nobody is pushed toward treatment they did not come in for.
One of the smoothest dental experiences I have ever had. So gentle and efficient that I actually fell asleep in the chair.
Just finished treatment at their Riverdale location and very happy with the results. Great service, I would recommend.
Explains everything in full detail. Love my implants and love my smile. Amazing work on a tough job.
Easy enough on the bus, walkable from the 1, and straightforward by car off the Henry Hudson.
Take the 1 to 231 St, then roughly a ten minute walk west and uphill.
The closest stop is Henry Hudson Parkway East at West 238th Street, about two minutes on foot.
The BxM1 and BxM2 express buses run through Riverdale if you are coming down from further north.
Come off the Henry Hudson Parkway around West 239th Street. Street parking in the neighborhood.
Most patients come from within a few minutes of the office, along the Riverdale Avenue and Broadway corridors. A number cross the bridge from upper Manhattan, and some come down from southern Westchester because the Sunday slot is easier than a weekday.
Dr. Schoengold also practices at a second office in White Plains, open Monday to Friday, if a weekday in Westchester suits you better than a Sunday in the Bronx.

Yes, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and it is a normal working day rather than a skeleton emergency service. Sunday is one of our three main days along with Tuesday and Thursday. Appointments are recommended because Sundays fill up, which is exactly why we run them.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at this location. If none of our Riverdale days work for you, Dr. Schoengold's White Plains office runs Monday to Friday and it is the same dentist.
Call and ask. If it falls on a Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday there is a genuine chance of fitting you in, and we would rather look at it than have you wait it out. Tell the front desk what is happening, in particular any swelling, difficulty swallowing, or fever, because those change how quickly you need to be seen.
The 1 train to 231 St is about a ten minute walk. The nearest bus stop is Henry Hudson Parkway East at West 238th Street, roughly two minutes away, served by the Bx7, Bx10 and Bx20. The BxM1 and BxM2 express buses also run through the neighborhood.
Most major plans are accepted. Rather than guess, call with your insurance details and the front desk will confirm what your plan covers before your appointment, so there are no surprises when you arrive. Payment plans are available for larger treatment.
You will not be lectured. It is far more common than people think, and the staff here deal with it constantly. Say when you book that it has been a long time, or that you are anxious, and the first visit gets planned gently. Sedation is available where it helps.
Often, yes. Bone loss is usually the reason given, and there is more than one kind. A narrow jaw may take a wedge shaped implant with no grafting at all. A short jaw may need grafting or a sinus lift first. A 3D scan is what separates the two. Bring whatever scan or quote you already have.
Yes. Alongside the implant work this is a general practice, so checkups, cleanings and routine treatment for the whole family are all part of what happens here. Sunday tends to be the easiest day to bring everyone in at once.
Send us your details and the front desk will call you back to lock in a time. Tell us if you are in pain, if it has been a long time, or if you were told no somewhere else, because all three change how we plan the first visit.
